BLOOMINGTON, Ind. Cody Reed Jersey . -- Tom Crean watched his young Hoosiers grow up Tuesday night. Stunned fans were overjoyed with the results. The turnovers and fouls were down. The defence improved and the Hoosiers did more than just play for pride -- they protected their home court against a team that hadnt lost all season. Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell scored 25 points, including two free throws with 18.1 seconds left, and freshman Stanford Robinson added a career-best 13 before grabbing the final rebound on a missed 3-pointer to preserve Indianas 75-72 upset over No. 3 Wisconsin -- a win that sent students streaming onto the court. "The program has had a lot of big wins. To the team, it means a great deal," Crean said. "To me, the team needs this. I mean we had a long week from Michigan State to Penn State but weve gotten a lot better, and we got a lot better the last couple of days. Its amazing what happens when some real confidence starts to come." The postgame celebration exemplified how critical the win was to a team that has been mostly inconsistent. Until Saturdays win at Penn State, the Hoosiers had beaten only one power conference foe -- Washington -- way back in November. Now they have two straight wins over Big Ten foes, taking down a team that had given it nothing but fits for seven years. Wisconsin (16-1, 3-1 Big Ten) entered the night as one of the nations last four unbeaten teams and was trying to become the first team to ever win 13 straight over Indiana. The tale of the tape appeared to be stacked against the Hoosiers, too. Somehow, though, Indiana (12-5, 2-2) responded with its best performance of the season. It committed only nine turnovers, limited Wisconsin to four free throws and somehow managed to dig itself out from a 10-point second-half deficit with a remarkable 12-0 run that gave the Hoosiers the lead for good. "Weve come very far, had a lot of early losses, but I felt like we learned from watching film," said Ferrell, a sophomore who has emerged as Indianas top scorer. "Weve been working hard in practice, but were not going to be content with it." Nor should they be. While Ferrell and Robinson led the way, only two other players -- senior Will Sheehey and freshman Noah Vonleh reached double figures. Sheehey had 13 points, Vonleh 11. They lost the rebounding battle 33-28 and allowed the Badgers to shoot 53.3 per cent from the field. They also struggled to defend Wisconsin guard Traevon Jackson, who had 16 of his career-high 21 in the second half. But it was the more experienced Badgers who got out of sorts late. Jackson missed a 3 from the top of the key with 12 seconds to go. Josh Gasser grabbed the rebound and flipped the ball out to Ben Brust in the corner, who rushed his shot with 5 seconds left and came up short. "When the clocks ticking in your head like that, he felt like there were two seconds to go or three," Badgers coach Bo Ryan said. "Also he felt that he needed to get the shot up in case the first touch from 3-point range is the call. There was actually just under four seconds left when the ball came down." All five Badgers starters scored in double figures -- Brust had 13, Gasser and Frank Kaminsky both had 11 and Sam Dekker finished with 10. But over the final 13 minutes, the Badgers had trouble scoring. The shooting woes gave Indiana the opening it so desperately needed, and after Crean called a timeout everything changed. Evan Gordon started the rally with a 17-foot jumper. Sheehey and Robinson followed that with consecutive layups. Vonleh finished the 12-0 run with a jumper in the paint to give Indiana a 54-52 lead with 8:58 left, and the Hoosiers never trailed again. But Wisconsin tied the score at 61 and closed to 73-72 on Kaminskys putback with 28.5 seconds left. Ferrell then made two free throws, the Badgers missed the two 3s -- and the crowd went wild over the Hoosiers their biggest win of the season. "Were not going to sit and watch this tape and have a pizza party and get some ice cream and say Wow, we couldnt have played any better," said Crean, who beat Ryan for the first time since he was hired by Indiana. "Were not. I think weve got a lot of potential, but you coach this game expecting to win." Chick Hafey Jersey .Y. -- As if the worst start in franchise history isnt bad enough, Buffalo Sabres President Ted Black braced his teams win-starved fans for potentially more tough times. Leo Cardenas Jersey . - After sewage backups, toilet overflows and foul smells surfaced the past two years, nothing at the Oakland Coliseum surprises the home team anymore. https://www.cheapredsjerseys.us/675s-freddy-galvis-jersey-reds.html . There are surprises among the Vezina candidates, but most of the others are standard top-tier performers, even if the two Hart Trophy runners-ups have never been quite as good as they have been through the first half of the season.VANCOUVER -- The salsa music was cranked up loud in the Vancouver Whitecaps dressing room prior to a training session this week. The players looked relaxed and smiled as they filed out for practice. There was little evidence the teams confidence had been shaken by a pair of subpar performances and its first loss in eight Major League Soccer games. There was even talk about how the Seattle Sounders, Vancouvers Cascadia rival with the best record in MLS, are the right medicine to cure whatever ails the Whitecaps. "Its the perfect test to bounce back," forward Nigel Reo-Coker said about Saturdays game at BC Place Stadium. "Its a great test for the team. No one expects us to win this game. They are the most experienced team, I would say, in the league. For us, as an emerging young team, its a great time for us to prove to people we should be taken seriously as a team." The Whitecaps had a franchise record eight-game unbeaten streak (3-0-5) snapped in a 2-0 loss to the Colorado Rapids last week. Vancouver had also played poorly in a 0-0 draw to the Montreal Impact the previous game. A Vancouver team that had gone six of seven games scoring two or more goals has suddenly had problems putting the ball in the net. "The last couple of games I dont think our team has produced the same amount of opportunities they have in the past," said forward Erik Hurtado. "That is going to affect us scoring goals." Coach Carl Robinson doesnt see any big problems with the Whitecaps game, just areas that need little fixes. "Good teams are able to do the crappy jobs very well," said Robinson. "Weve done that the first part of the season. In the last two games I think we went away from that. "Our transition play needs to be a little bit better. Its the little details that make the big differences. If we get back to that, then everyone will put a smile on their face." Seattle leads the MLS standings with 35 points from a 11-3-2 record. One of those ties came against Vancouver last month. The Sounders have also scored 33 goals, more than any other team in the league. Vancouver is fifth in the Western Conference, 13 points behind Seattle with a 5-3-7 record. Steven Beitashour, who is returning to the Whitecaps lineup after playing for Iran at the World Cup, said the last two results are a minor bump in a long season. "We were on a nice streak," said the 27-year-old right back. "The guys did well during that. "The league is going to have runs, good runs, bad runs. I dont think two is bad at all. Im confident this weekend we will have a good result, then we will start a new winning streak. Ted Kluszewski Jersey. " The last time the teams met Seattle salvaged the tie on a late penalty kick after a controversial call. Sounders coach Sigi Schmid doesnt expect things to be any easier in the rematch. "They are going to be a team that is motivated," Schmid said on the Sounders website. "Im sure they havent been happy with their last two games they played, they havent scored any goals. "Coach Robinson will be under them and motivating them. That team is going to be hungry when they play us." One reason the Whitecaps have had problems scoring goals is teams are dropping back defenders to counter Vancouvers speed. Robinson said his team must be smarter with the ball when they have possession. "We have to get back to maintaining possession, dictating possession, but also being a threat in the final third," he said. "We know we have quick players, but have we got players with an understanding how to move (opposition) players out of position? Seattle is a very organized team. They like to get eight, nine men behind the ball. We are going to have to be open and expansive but also a little bit creative in our final third play." Vancouver could also improve its set plays. The Whitecaps have been unable to take advantage of some good deliveries from midfielder Pedro Morales. "I think the service has been there," said Robinson. "Now its the challenge for the players to get in the right position. Its about movement in the box." The Whitecaps have been guilty of giving up leads. Robinson said thats a result of his team still learning how to deal with certain game situations. "The top teams are able to grind out results," he said. "I havent got an experienced core. I have a young group. "When we bend we might break at the moment. Its important we learn from scenarios like that. At the moment we have broken but we will learn form certain things." One player thrilled to be back in the Whitecaps lineup is Medhi Ballouchy. The 31-year-old midfielder from Morocco spent 11 months recovering from anterior cruciate ligament surgeries on both knees. During that time he also lost his father to cancer. Ballouchy played 20 minutes against Colorado and called the experience "amazing." "Taking something from a soccer player ... its always hard," he said about his long recovery. "Im just happy (and) at this point dont even want to think about it. "I hope I can stay in this phase for a long time." ' ' '
